On Sundays, July 21st and 28th, Sierra Cinemas/Nevada Theatre Film Series presents “The Fall of the American Empire” at 7pm at the Nevada Theatre.
This witty French Canadian comedy by Academy Award winning director Denys Arcand is so satisfying that we’re showing it twice to double your opportunities to see it. Filled with delightful twists and turns, The Fall is about money and what it can do to people.
Pierre-Paul Daoust, 36, an intellectual with a PhD in philosophy is forced to work as a deliveryman to afford a decent living. One day, while delivering a parcel, he gets caught in a hold up gone terribly wrong: two dead and millions in moneybags lying on the ground. Pierre-Paul is confronted with a dilemma: leave empty handed, or take the money and run? If you like unusual caper comedies that not only make you laugh but also satisfy your desire for intelligent entertainment, don’t miss “The Fall of the American Empire”. The film is in French with English subtitles.
“Critics Consensus: An ambitious blend of comedy, thriller, and social commentary, “The Fall of the American Empire lightens its heavy message with refreshing intelligence and wit.”
The film is being shown at 7pm (with doors opening at 6:30) and admission is $8. For more information, to view the trailer, or to purchase advance tickets, visit www.sierratheaters.com
