The Center for the Arts OnTheGo Presents: Django Shredders

The Life and Times of Django Reinhardt

Sunday January 13th

The Center for the Arts brings Gypsy Jazz to the Besemer Concert Hall in Nevada City when Django Shredders perform on Sunday, January 13. The intimate and acoustically superb concert hall is an ideal setting for this swinging music. Seating is limited.

“The Life and Times of Django Reinhardt,” performed by Alex Ciavarelli and Rudy Marquez, tells the story of the Belgian jazz guitarist, regarded as one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, and the frenzy of musicians he influenced.

Marquez and Ciavarelli are young accomplished jazz guitarists who bring exuberant energy and virtuosity beyond their years to the late Django’s convoluted renderings of what we now call gypsy jazz. The Django Shredders have held court in the deep talent pools at DjangoVegas and the San Diego Gypsy Jazz Festival. Engagements this season include residencies in the Sonoma County Libraries as well as for Green Valley Recreation in Arizona, and an appearance at Bothwell Arts Center in Livermore, CA.
