Thriving in a World of Art
How does a business survive in the field of art? How does that business survive in a small community, let alone when technology takes over, while raising a family in the midst of it all? And how do you pursue other interests without losing your identity in that community? These are the questions, among others, that are answered in a unique one person show at the Center for the Arts in Grass Valley, opening on May 16, from 5 -7 p.m. The show runs though May 23.
“Art As Life” is a 35 year retrospective show of Nevada City graphic designer and fine artist LeeAnn Brook. Having operated Brook Design Group, an advertising and graphic design firm since 1976, Brook’s one-person show weaves a personal story of what has connected her to her art, and to her community.
The show travels from her early work, before computers, highlighting artwork drawn by hand and pasted up on a board, through her work for over 1500 high tech companies, product manufacturers and small businesses.
