Friday, January 31 – Gene Evaro Jr. with DJ Sugatroll
Every time Gene Evaro Jr. plays the Crazy Horse, we feel like it might be the last because they have all the makings of a band skyrocketing to much bigger frontiers. If it’s not enough to be a scorching guitarist and keyboardist, Evaro Jr. also has a voice drenched in honey. Throw in captivating charisma and you have the infectious spirit of a natural born entertainer. His trio is tapped in to funky soul, R&B aphrodisia and shimmering rock. Their original material speaks to the universal state of mind of the present.
In the comfortable confines of the Crazy Horse, they have a tendency to let loose like nowhere else. Evaro may be the center of attention with transfixing stage presence, seductive sound and a sense of fashion that would make Jimi Hendrix smile. He has been known to draw comparisons to Prince. But it’s bassist Piper Robison who has virtually earned her own fan club. Small in stature but huge in prowess, she’s a performer so funky and fluid, it’s hard to take your eyes off of her. This is a show where you’ll walk away tingling from head to toe.
Come early and stay late as DJ Sugatroll spins the choicest cuts of funky psyche, weirdo disco and cosmic boogie tunes.
