InConcert Sierra presents a house concert featuring pianist Ken Hardin and violist Peter Jandula-Hudson, on Saturday May 18 at 2 p.m.
Following the one-hour recital, beverages, savories and sweets will be served and guests will have the opportunity to interact with Jandula and Hardin.
House concerts present great music in an intimate setting, allowing the audience and artists an opportunity to connect in a whole different way than experienced in a larger concert setting. Because of the limited number of audience members, there is ample time for discussion, or questions for anyone who wishes to participate. As the name implies, the performance will be hosted in a private home in Grass Valley.
The afternoon program includes “Salut d’ Amour” by Elgar; “Romanze, Op. 85,” by Bruch; “Vocalise” by Rachmaninoff, “Two pieces for Viola,” by Frank Bridge; and “Meditation from Thais,” by Massenet, and more.
Peter Jandula-Hudson became Principal Violist with the New Mexico Symphony in 1987. In 1997 Jandula moved to Los Angeles where he became a successful studio musician recording with such luminary composers as John Williams, Randy Newman, Jerry Goldsmith and many others. He was also a member of the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra, Pasadena Symphony and Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. He is now the Principal Violist with the InConcert Sierra Orchestra and frequently performs with the Reno Philharmonic.
Ken Hardin is the artistic director for InConcert Sierra, and conductor for the InConcert Sierra Orchestra. He recently retired from his position as the founding conductor of the Sierra Master Chorale. Hardin’s career as a pianist and conductor has spanned the genres of jazz, Broadway, and classical with strong, diverse experience and education in conducting, performing and teaching. Additionally, Hardin is the principal keyboardist for the Reno Philharmonic and active as a freelance pianist.
