Miners Foundry Cultural Center in partnership with Sleazy Action Booking presents FRIGHT NIGHT, Nevada County’s largest Halloween bash, Saturday, October 27th.
The legendary Halloween party celebrates its 40th anniversary with an all-star local and semi-local line up of bands including Destroyer, the West Coast’s premiere KISS tribute band; Steady Static performing the songs of Siouxie & The Banshees; Just Like Heaven, the ultimate tribute to the Cure, and Joan Jett & The Glitterhearts. The evening also features the Vixens of Vinyl, DJ’s Owen & Sugartroll (Shocks & Struts), Gary The Clown, Hare In the Moon reading tarot, and Daughters of Diablo Burlesque.
Headlining FRIGHT NIGHT is Destroyer, a KISS tribute band that has opened for the real KISS and GWAR, and has also been written about in Rolling Stone, SPIN and even Metal Edge Magazines. Their exciting and thrilling tribute show to the greatest rock and roll band in the world is a show not to miss. Even Peter Criss’ first wife Lydia flew from New York to see these guys do their show. Their drummer received a big KISS from her for singing “Beth” to her at that show!
Wearing early era costumes, Destroyer ensures the crowd to be captivated and also intrigued by their sing-along set of classic KISS tunes that everyone enjoys. Hear your old favorite KISS tunes like “Deuce”, “Strutter”, “C’mon” and “Love Me, I Was Made For Loving You”, and many more!
The local tradition dates back to 1978 when Bobby Angel coined the name and produced the first five FRIGHT NIGHT’s at the American Victorian Museum as a fundraiser for community radio station KVMR. The first FRIGHT NIGHT was $2 with costume; simulcast live on KVMR and featured Mighty Dread, Harry Harpoon and the House Wreckers, plus a special appearance by the Phantom of the Opera.
Forty years later, FRIGHT NIGHT has gone through many producers including artists and visionaries David Osborn and Charles Woods, KVMR, and Foothill Theatre Company, and it is now considered one of the Miners Foundry’s largest annual fundraisers.
