Shakespeare…Abridged…Plays thru Oct 7

LeGacy Presents brings “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare…Abridged…Revised” at the Off Center Stage in Grass Valley Thursdays through Sundays from September 14th through October 7th. This HILARIOUS comedy is a parody of the plays written by William Shakespeare with all of them being performed (in shortened form) during the show by only three actors.

The play was written by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield, former founding members of the Reduced Shakespeare Company, and first performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1987 and later played at the Criterion Theatre in London, where it ran for nine record-breaking years. It has become one of the world’s most popular shows, playing frequently in a variety of languages. It is notable for holding the (self-proclaimed) world record for the shortest-ever performance of Hamlet, clocking in at 43 seconds!!

Local favorite Jay Barker (The Full Monty, Harold & Maude) is joined by Trevor Wade (On the Waterfront) & LeGacy newcomer and lifetime professional actor Jon Enos. Directed by Scott Ewing of Ewing Ventures (The Full Monty, Harold & Maude, Next to Normal), this fast paced, rollicking show is not to be missed!!!!

Keeping with LeGacy tradition, OPENING NIGHT is a benefit for the Nevada Union Thespian Society (NUTS). Gala night is Saturday, September 15th, with an Elizabethan feast with appetizers and wine. Doors open at 6:30.

Tickets for GALA are only $25. All other performances, including NUTS benefit are $18, and can be purchased at Harmony Books in Nevada City, The Bookseller in Grass Valley, online at or by calling (530) 268 5419.
