American Presidents Convene in Nevada City Sept 11

All 44 presidents in the history of the United States, from George Washington to Barack Obama, will gather in the picturesque Sierra foothills village of Nevada City, California on Sunday, Sept. 11, to march together in the town’s 45th Annual Constitution Day Parade.

This is believed to be the singular time and place on the planet where all American Presidents gather together, partisan politics aside, to celebrate the U.S. Constitution, freedom and American way of life.

The Famous Marching Presidents of Nevada City have been at it for 24 years and show no signs of slowing down.

Accompanied by their First Ladies and cadres of trench-coated secret service agents, the Marching Presidents are made up of citizens from all walks of life. This their only annual appearance, although they have received several requests to march in other parades.

The 45th Annual Nevada City Constitution Day Parade moves a down a flag and bunting-draped Broad Street through historic downtown Nevada City at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11. The Marching Presidents are among more than 80 expected entries.

The Marching Presidents is a fun-loving and educational group that portrays all 44 U.S. Presidents with reverence, good humor and varying degrees of historical accuracy. To learn more about the group, see For reliable information on U.S. Presidents, see

For interviews, photos and more information on the Marching Presidents, please contact founding member David Parker (President Martin Van Buren) at 530-477-3359 or

The band’s popularity soared in 2009 when they performed three songs on Last Call with Carson Daly. The band is known for their dynamic live performances led by singer Aja Volkman. Her vocal style has been compared to that of Karen O, Joan Jett and Janis Joplin.

In 2009, Kevin Click took up the guitar and started writing and recording original material. In early 2010, Jake and Jonathan Hansard and Jason Graham; all proficient multi-instrumentalists joined Kevin to cement the live sound of the band and to arrange tracks for the upcoming album release. Vocalist Erin Melugin joined in early 2011 to provide vocal harmonies. The Trap is an Indie Rock band not to be missed and will open for Nico Vega.  Join us for a unique night of rock!

The 11th Annual Nevada City Film Festival presented by AJA Video Systems, will run Thursday, August 18 through Sunday, August 21, 2011 in historic downtown Nevada City, CA. This year, over 60 films – both short and full length independent dramas, comedies, documentaries and animation films from around the world – will screen in beautiful art house theatres and charming historic buildings.

In addition to screening award-winning films, the Nevada City Film Festival Comedy Show returns this year with the wickedly funny DJ Douggpound (Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!), Brent Weinbach (Lopez Tonight, Comedy Central,, Brendan Walsh (Conan, Jimmy Kimmel, HBO), Eric Andre (Lopez, Comedy Central), and Chelsea Peretti (Sarah Silverman, Adult Swim, Comedy Central, and Parks and Recreation). Show Your Support for High-Speed Internet

Dear Supporters and Seekers of High-speed Internet Access,

This is a reminder that we need your help in making the Gold Country Broadband Consortium a success, and you can help by submitting your letter of support and Member Information Sheet.  Please download draft template Ltr of Support and Member Information Sheet

SEDCorp is dedicated to extending broadband Internet service to every home and business in the counties of Sierra, Nevada, Placer, El Dorado and Alpine as soon as possible and maximizing the breadth of beneficial services available via those connections. Supported by the CPUC’s California Advanced Services Fund (CASF), SEDCorp plans to reach communities, neighborhoods and businesses throughout the region to help make the business cases needed to bring broadband service to those currently without service and better service to those who are inadequately served, and to maximize adoption of those services as soon as they are available. Our proposed approach to accomplishing this goal is covered in the draft application for CASF support sent to you last week.

The first meeting of the Consortium yesterday had a great turnout and we look forward to future meetings in all five counties.

Please mail or email your letter and info by Thursday, August 18. We don’t want anyone left out. We anticipate submitting our application to the CPUC the following day.

As always, if you have any questions about the mission of the Consortium, please feel free to call or email me. Thanks. Brent
