Nevada City Farmer’s Market Starts June 19th

FarmersMktThe Nevada City Farmer’s Market starts this Saturday, June 19th, at 8:30 a.m. in downtown Nevada City.

The Nevada City Farmer’s Market features many interesting vendors and artists in addition to locally grown fruits and vegetables. Live musical entertainment is also provided. The market will run Saturday mornings starting at 8:30 from June 19 to October 30, 2010.

Parade and Community Celebration for Nevada City Fire Department 150th

parade_downhillYou are invited to a community celebration on Saturday, June 19th.

The day will begin at 11:00 AM with a procession of vintage and modern firefighting equipment from the top of Broad Street through historic downtown Nevada City.

The community celebration will be held at the Eric Rood Government Center at 950 Maidu Avenue, Nevada City, CA 95959.  Opening ceremonies will commence at noon, featuring past and present members of the fire department, local and state dignitaries, and the Nevada County Fire honor guard performing a flag raising ceremony.

The afternoon will include equipment demonstrations, fun activities for kids, and educational presentations. There will be lunch and other refreshments available from several local vendors.

The 50th Nevada City Bicycle Classic is Coming!

BikeRaceNevada City is getting ready for the 50th annual Nevada City Bicycle Classic race – to be held on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 20th starting at 1:00 p.m.

A premier cycling event that was won by Lance Armstrong last year, the classic is also a Lance Armstrong Junior Olympic Race Series (LAJORS) event and will attract top national riders, both pro and junior.

Races will start at 1:00 p.m. with the junior race. The Men’s Pro race is expected to start at 5 p.m. and go for about an hour and half.
