Public library with six locations serving all of Nevada County. Depending upon the location, the library provides books and other library materials, adult and children’s programs including weekly story times (including Spanish), online library catalog (search, put items on hold, receive hold notices and items due reminders by email), online databases, adult literacy program ‘Read Up!’, a homebound book buddy service, collaborative classes with One-Stop Business & Career Center for job seekers, Job Center collections, computers, printers (fee applies), internet and wi-fi, coin copiers, historical record access and historical research (fee may apply) and reference searches. The main library, Madelyn Helling Library in Nevada City, has a low cost Community Meeting Room for public use (visit our website for more information or call 530-265-1407). The Nevada County Library has supportive Friends of the Libraries groups and a Library Foundation. The Friends have a dedicated area in each library branch for book sale items and they host a monthly book sale at the Doris Foley Library for Historical Research, 211 North Pine Street, Nevada City the first Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
