‘Recession' in NC
“Recession - The Musical,” is packing Nevada City's Off Broadstreet wine and dessert theatre every weekend. The tongue-in-cheek musical comedy tells the story of a band of Nevada City performers who convince local radio station KNCO to broadcast their 90-minute show as a way to lift community spirits during tough economic times.

Shows are scheduled Fridays and Saturdays at 8:15 p.m. through Apr. 4 (and also at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 22). They're selling out so make reservations early. (530) 265-8686 or obs@offbroadstreet.com.

‘This Land is Your Land'
Country Joe McDonald comes to town on Thursday evening, Apr. 9, to perform a two act play, “This Land is Your Land,” a tribute to the life and legacy of the legendary Woody Guthrie.

The special event is presented by local music producer Paul Emery as a fundraiser for the Foothill Theatre Company. It begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Nevada Theatre at 401 Broad Street.

Tickets are $20 at the Foothill Theatre box office. Call (530) 265-8586 or see www.foothilltheatre.org.

Tapas, Wine & Music
Friday nights bring Tapas, Wine & Music to the Nevada City Classic Cafe. Light fare, wine and European style cafe music with Maggie McKaig and Luke Wilson are drawing guests to the 6-8 p.m. affair. It's only $10 person. For reservations and information, call (530) 265-9440 or see www.ncclassiccafe.com.
