Enjoy the Holidays in NC
Nevada City is alive with old-fashioned holiday charm from Thanksgiving through Christmas.

Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 23-25) is arts and crafts weekend throughout the Nevada City-Grass Valley area. Visit the fairs and Nevada City's unique shops. Enjoy lunch or dinner in a great NC restaurant.

In Nevada City, the Artisans Festival at Miners Foundry runs 10-5 Friday through Sunday. Admission is $3; under 12 free. Also, the Nevada City United Methodist Church presents its Craft Faire and Sandwich Shoppe 10-4 Friday and Saturday and noon-4 Sunday.

Meanwhile in Grass Valley, the Nevada County Fairgrounds presents its 23rd Annual Country Christmas Faire. Hours are 10-5 Fri. and Sat. and 10-3 Sun. Admission is $4; kids are free.

Victorian Christmas Returns to NC
One of America's “best old-fashioned holiday celebrations” (USA Today), Victorian Christmas in Nevada City, is featured three Wednesday evenings and two Sunday afternoons in December.

Dates for this year's event are Wednesdays, Dec. 5, 12 & 19, from 6-9 p.m. and on Sundays, Dec. 9 & 16, from 1:30-6 p.m.

Experience Nevada City under the warm glow of gas street lamps and twinkling rooftop lights, when motor vehicles are replaced on the streets by costumed vendors and hawkers and strolling musicians.

You can add to the fun by taking the $2 roundtrip holiday shuttlebus from free parking at the Nevada County Government Center on Highway 49.

See old friends and meet new ones at Victorian Christmas!

Pharmacy Opens in NC
It's been a few years since we've had a pharmacy in Nevada City but we're back in business.

Dave and Kelly Dokimos have opened Dokimos Nevada City Pharmacy at 737 Zion Street, next door to SPD. The couple also operates Dokimos East Main Pharmacy in Grass Valley.

Stop by the new store and welcome the couple to Nevada City. They have nice gift selections, quick service and a 24-hour prescription order service. Call 470-8994.

New Focus on Local Shopping
The Nevada City Chamber of Commerce has joined with other local business organizations in the “Be Local, Shop Locally: Think Nevada County First” campaign.

The twofold effort provides local merchants with advice and information on meeting the needs of local shoppers. It also points out the important effects local business has on our local quality of life.

Planning Ahead
Mark your calendars! Nevada City's wild and woolly Mardi Gras celebration is planned for Feb. 2 & 3, 2008. The rain or shine event includes a Saturday night masquerade ball at Miners Foundry and a Sunday afternoon parade down Broad Street.
