Friar Tuck’s Receives Wine Spectator Award
Friar Tuck’s Restaurant & Bar in Nevada City has been recognized with a 2009 Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator magazine.
The selection was announced in the magazine’s August issue as part of its annual international awards program.
“This is a special honor and we’re very pleased,” said Friar Tuck’s founder and owner Greg Cook. “We put a lot of effort into our wine list; we have over 280 choices.”
The magazine reported Friar Tuck’s strengths to be in its California wines, its moderate wine pricing and well-chosen wine selections that complement the restaurant’s cuisine.
Cook, who opened Friar Tuck’s in 1973, continues to operate the popular downtown restaurant with his wife, Rona. Friar Tuck’s seats 185, offers two wine cellars with wide and varied wine selections and attracts a clientele from across the region.
“We’re proud and happy to be part of the wine community in Nevada County,” Cook said.
Friar Tuck’s is located at 111 North Pine Street in historic downtown Nevada City. Call 530-265-9093 or see friartucks.com.
