Police Chief, Wife, and Top Mason Named
Co-Grand Marshals of Nevada City Parade
Nevada City Police Chief Lou Trovato, his wife, Waynette, and William D. Robertson, of Napa, Grand Commander of the California Knights Templar, have been named co-grand marshals of the 43rd Annual Nevada City Constitution Day Parade.
The grand marshals were announced Monday (Aug. 31) by Nevada City Constitution Day Commission Chairman Dennis Cassella and parade coordinators George and Pat Harper.
The Trovatos have resided in Nevada City since 1996 when Lou Trovato accepted the position of Nevada City chief of police. He arrived in Nevada City after 29 years with the Los Angeles Police Dept.
Chief Trovato is a member of Nevada Lodge No. 13, F.& A.M., a past commander of Knights Templar in Nevada City, and a member of the 49er Breakfast Rotary Club of Nevada City and the Nevada City Elks Lodge. He also plays trumpet with the Nevada County Concert Band.
Co-Grand Marshal Waynette Trovato is also active in the community. She is a member and past worthy matron of Eastern Star, a member of Rotary’s Inner Wheel, and the Red Hat Society.
Robertson, the 151st Grand Commander of Knights Templar, is a retired captain with the Napa City Fire Department. He is a longtime member and leader of Napa Valley Masonic Lodge No. 97.
The annual Nevada City Constitution Day Parade, a local tradition since 1967, features about 100 entries, including several bands. The traditional community parade rolls down Broad Street at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13.
The Constitution Day celebration is sponsored by Nevada Lodge No. 13, F.&A.M. in Nevada City, the 49er Breakfast Rotary Club of Nevada City and the Nevada City Constitution Day Commission.
