California Grand Master of Masons is Named Grand Marshal of NC Parade. Sept. 9, 2007.

Melvyn B. Stein, Grand Master of Masons for the State of California, has been named Grand Marshal of the 41st Annual Nevada City Constitution Day Parade on Sept. 9, 2007.

A San Diego resident and attorney, Mel Stein has been a Master Mason for 44 years, having been raised in San Diego Lodge No. 35 where he served as Master in 1972.

He has served as Trustee of the California Masonic Foundation; the Masonic Homes of California; the California Memorial Temple; Nob Hill Corporation; and for 31 years on numerous Masonic committees.
Grand Marshal Stein was elected as Grand Master of Masons in California in October, 2006.

The annual Nevada City Constitution Day Parade, a local tradition since 1967, features about 80 entries, including seven marching bands, and will be held in historic downtown Nevada City on Sunday, Sept. 9, beginning at 2 p.m.

Pre-parade activities on Broad Street open at 12:30 p.m. with a free concert by the Nevada County Concert Band followed by a reenactment of the signing of the U.S. Constitution at 1:30 p.m.

The Constitution Day celebration is sponsored by Nevada Lodge No. 13, F.&A.M. in Nevada City, the 49er Breakfast Rotary Club of Nevada City and the Nevada City Constitution Day Committee.
