New Trail Guide for Nevada County
A popular trail guide to some of the best hikes in the Grass Valley-Nevada City area has been updated and reprinted by the Joint Chambers of Commerce of Nevada County.
"Hikes & Walks: Th e Best Hiking Trails in Grass Valley and Nevada City" describes 16 hikes in and around Grass Valley and Nevada City, along the South Yuba River, at Empire Mine and Malakoff Diggins state historic parks and in the Grouse Ridge lakes area.
The handy four-panel brochure includes a location map with trail descriptions, distances and degrees of physical difficulty. Special features and historical significance are also noted.
Most of the trails are on public land, although some cross areas of private property. The brochure advises respect for private property rights.
The trail guide was developed and updated through a cooperative effort of the chambers of commerce, U.S. Forest Service, State Department of Parks and Recreation, Nevada County Land Trust and other ogranizations.
Several other outdoor-related brochures are also available for Grass Valley and Nevada City. These include a mountain bike trail guide, road biking guide, golf course listing and fall colors tour guide.
The brochures are available free at the Nevada City and Grass Valley/Nevada County chamber visitor centers and from local inns and shops.
