The 9th Annual Nevada City Film Festival
is August 20-23, 2009

The 9th Annual Nevada City Film Festival (NCFF) promises to be another exciting showcase of independent films, in a town that knows how to make a film festival truly festive.

Every year thousands of film enthusiasts travel from around the world to gather for one long weekend in beautiful, picturesque Nevada County to experience the best in independent cinema. NCFF, a film festival created BY filmmakers FOR filmmakers, will screen 30 short films showcasing the creative, boundary-pushing work of both filmmaking’s rising talent and of established directors. The films selected, span genres, languages, and format, with something for everyone.

The NCFF is a one-of-a-kind experience where film buffs, filmmakers, and industry professionals come together to celebrate cinema and enjoy four exciting days of screenings, panels, happy hours and after parties. In previous years, NCFF has attracted everyone from director Mike Mills (Thumbsucker) and editors of the Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! - to music supervisor Brian Reitzell (Lost in Translation, Stranger Than Fiction) and documentary filmmakers Arne Johnson & Shane King (GIRLS ROCK!). A dozen or more filmmakers will be available to answer questions from the audience after each of their films.

Those summoned to jury duty this year include Peter Relic from Rolling Stone Magazine, Jonathan Kiefer a member of the SF Film Critics Circle and film critic for KQED and SF Magazine, Suzanne Warren a local producer and filmmaker and Chuck Jaffee the local film critic for the Union and previous juror for both NCFF and the Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival.
