Awards for Three NC Restaurants

Three leading Nevada City restaurants have been recognized in the 2004 international awards program conducted by Wine Spectator Magazine.

Friar Tuck's Restaurant & Wine Bar, Citronee Bistro and Wine Bar and Kirby's Creekside Restaurant each received awards and recognition in the August, 2004 issue of Wine Spectator.

The three local restaurants are among 2700 restaurants in the world to win accolades from Wine Spectator.  Restaurants are recognized for their varieties and selections of wines.

“Having three restaurants on the list is quite an accomplishment for a small town like Nevada City,” said Friar Tuck's founder and owner Greg Cook.

The latest awards should help strengthen Nevada City's reputation as a destination for fine dining and wine tasting, said Cathy Whittlesey, executive manager of the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to more than 20 restaurants, historic downtown Nevada City has four wine tasting rooms; Nevada City Winery, Indian Springs Vineyards Tasting Room, Iron Mountain Vineyards Tasting Room and Carrington's Fine Wines.
