SUNSHINE ADVISORY: Sunglasses Recommended for Visit to Sierra Foothill
Residents of the fog-bound Sacramento Valley should be adequately prepared for bright sunshine when venturing into the Sierra Foothills.
Travelers should be equipped with sunglasses, sunscreen and short-sleeved shirts, according to a travel advisory issued by the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce.
Cathy Whittlesey, the chamber's executive manager, said Friday that Nevada City has basked in temperatures in the 60s, under brilliant blue skies, while the Valley has shivered in the 30s and 40s.
Christmas shopping, hiking, biking and golf are among the many activities to be enjoyed in the sun-drenched foothill towns of Nevada City and Grass Valley.
