Victorian Christmas, the old-fashioned holiday celebration in this colorful Gold Rush town, opens Wednesday (Dec. 6) and continues Wednesday nights, Dec. 13 and 20, from 6-9 p.m., and on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 17, from 1:30-6 p.m.
During the event, Nevada City's historic district is closed to cars and transformed back in time. Christmas melodies, roasting chestnuts, carriage rides and costumed vendors remind visitors of another time and place. Admission is free.
