NC Chamber Names Leaders for 2009
Duane Strawser took office Monday (Dec. 22) as 2009 president of the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce. Strawser is owner of the Tour of Nevada City Bicycle Shop.
David Painter of SPD Markets was unanimously elected Monday as the chamber's president-elect for 2009. He will move up to president in 2010.
Outgoing 2008 president Jeff Ackerman, publisher of The Union, will continue as a member of the chamber's 13-member governing board.
Denise Anderson, of Bank of America, was named to a 15th term as chamber treasurer. The officers were seated Monday at the first meeting of the 2009 chamber board.
Also serving on the board are former Nevada County Librarian Madelyn Helling, Mimi Simmons of ERA Cornerstone Realty, Lisa White of Citizens Bank, Ellen Davis of Nevada City Winery, Kirk Valentine of Nevada City Classic Cafe, Karen Marinovich of Foothill Theatre Company, Jesse Locks of the Nevada City Film Festival, Barbi Jackson of Scott Jackson's Real Life Fitness and Nevada City resident Larry Birdsong.
The new officers will be installed and the chamber's annual community recognition awards will be presented at the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce 107th Annual Installation and Awards Dinner on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at Miners Foundry.
