Nevada City Chamber Names Leaders for 2007
Downtown merchant Bob Buhlis was reelected Monday (Dec. 18) to a third term as president of the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce.
The incoming 2007 president is the owner and operator of the Nevada City Postal Company. He served as chamber president in 2005 and 2006 after serving as vice president in 2004.
Jeff Ackerman, publisher of The Union, was elected as the chamber's 2007 vice-president and Denise Anderson of Bank of America was returned to office for her 13th term as treasurer.
The officers were elected by the chamber's 13-member Board of Directors. Eight members of the board, including three incumbents, were elected to two-year terms in office in a mail-ballot election of the general membership counted Friday (Dec. 15).
Returning for new two-year terms are Greg Cook of Friar Tuck's, Tom Coleman of the National Hotel and Kirk Valentine of the Nevada City Classic Cafe.
Newly-elected members of the chamber board are Jeff Ackerman of The Union, Madelyn Helling, former county librarian; Shannon Perry of Exposure Gallery, Jamos Purtill of Citizen's Bank and David Vertin of Nevada City Carriage Company.
Continuing directors with one year left in their terms are Buhlis, Anderson, Richard Farrar of Nevada City Baking & Catering, Duane Strawser of the Tour of Nevada City Bicycle Shop and Mimi Simmons of ERA Cornerstone Realty Group.
The new officers will be installed and the chamber's annual recognition awards will be presented at the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce 105th Annual Installation and Awards Dinner on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at Miners Foundry.
