NC Chamber Names Leaders for 2008
Press Release, 11/26/2007
Jeff Ackerman, publisher of The Union, is the 2008 president of the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce, the chamber announced this week (Nov. 26).
The incoming president has served this year as president-elect. He succeeds Bob Buhlis, proprietor of the Nevada City Postal Company, who is completing his third term in the chamber's top leadership position.
Ackerman will head a 13-member board that includes five local business leaders who were elected and reelected to the board by the chamber's general membership in a November mail-ballot election.
Winning new two-year terms were Duane Strawser of the Tour of Nevada City Bicycle Shop and Denise Anderson of Bank of America, both of whom were reelected. New directors joining the board are David Painter of SPD Markets, Ellen Davis of the Nevada City Winery and Lisa White of Citizens Bank.
Eight members of the board have one year remaining in their current two-year terms. In addition to Ackerman and Buhlis, continuing directors are former Nevada County Librarian Madelyn Helling, David Vertin of the Nevada City Carriage Co., Shannon Perry of Exposure Gallery, Tom Coleman of the National Hotel, Kirk Valentine of Nevada City Classic Cafe and Greg Cook of Friar Tuck's.
The new officers will be installed and the chamber's annual community recognition awards will be presented at the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce 106th Annual Installation and Awards Dinner on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, at Miners Foundry.
