Local Business Community Launches
‘Be Local - Buy Locally' Campaign

Business leaders from throughout the community are joining together in a new campaign to promote local shopping in western Nevada County.
The campaign, “Be Local - Buy Locally: Think Nevada County First,” will be introduced in a special educational forum that is designed to help local merchants better position themselves to attract local shoppers.
The free two-hour forum is scheduled from 7:30-9:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 5, at Sierra Cinemas, 840 East Main Street, in Grass Valley. All local business people are invited.
“This forum will provide our local business people a better understanding of local consumer needs, “ said Mary Ann Mueller, president and CEO of the Grass Valley/Nevada County Chamber of Commerce, one of the sponsoring organizations.
“We also hope the forum will help our local community develop a better understanding of the importance of our local economy as it relates to the community's quality of life.,” she said.
Money spent in the local economy supports local jobs, public services including roads and police and fire protection, youth and nonprofit organizations and many other community services.
The morning's agenda includes a complimentary Continental breakfast. Jason Fouyer of United Independent Title Co. will present introductory remarks and a statement of purpose at 7:45 a.m.

The forum concludes with a 30-minute question and answer session moderated by Carol Scofield. It runs from 9-9:30 a.m.
Posters, decals, buttons, brochures and other materials will be available to those in attendance.
The forum is a community wide event. Sponsoring organizations include the cities of Grass Valley and Nevada City, the Grass Valley/Nevada County, Nevada City and Penn Valley chambers of commerce, the Grass Valley and Nevada City downtown associations, Nevada County Economic Resource Council and Nevada County Community Leadership Institute.
