Nevada City Romantic Dates

Broad Street, Nevada City

Nevada City’s historic charm leads to a perfect romantic getaway, whether it’s an intimate evening for two or a party with your all of your friends and family.  With so many choices, it’s hard to figure out how to fit it all in one date.  So here are a few options, depending on what type of adventure you’re looking for.

New Moon Cafe

If you’re the type of couple who likes to celebrate a special occasion with a nice meal out, start your date with a reservation at New Moon Cafe.  Treat yourself to a roasted beet salad, fresh fish and a decadent dessert.  The seasonal menu is made of fresh ingredients, with a wine list to impress even the most educated wine drinker.

South Yuba River, Edwards Crossing

Perhaps your idea of the perfect couple retreat is a strenuous hike down by the South Yuba River, followed by a couples massage and then take out pizza from the Northridge and a night in.  Start your date day off with a hardy breakfast from Ike’s Quarter Café and then head out to Edward’s Crossing and head downstream along the South Yuba Trail.  Make sure to take your camera for the picturesque view point 45 minutes downstream from the bridge and if you’re feeling up to you can continue hiking all the way down to Purdons Crossing, 4 ½ miles downstream, but remember, you’ll have to turn around and walk all the way back, as the hike is an in and out, not a loop.  If you’d like a little bit of pampering check out the Insight Directory for Healthy Living for a list of local body workers, or refer to the Nevada City Chamber’s list of personal care businesses in both Nevada City and Grass Valley.

Lefty's Grill pizza
Crazy Horse Saloon

Or maybe you want to have a night out with friends to celebrate an occasion, meet your friends down at the Mine Shaft and then head over to Lefty’s Grill for a casual bite to eat.  Check the latest music listening and head over to Haven Underground, the Miners Foundry, The Stonehouse or The Center for the Arts to listen to some live music.  Perhaps finish your night out with some live music and a drink at Coopers or the Crazy Horse Saloon.

Clavey Vineyards, Szabo Vineyards, Indian Springs and Nevada City Winery

Perhaps you and your partner would like a day of exploring local vineyards.  Downtown Nevada City has a number of tastings rooms including Nevada City Winery, Clavey Vineyards and Szabo Vineyards.  Grab a cheese platter and watch the foot traffic on Broad Street out the windows from Szabo.  You could also check out the wine club events at Nevada City Winery and chose a date when they’re either having their bottle your own wine event or one of the many Sierra Vintners or Nevada City Chamber Wine Tasting events.  There’s something for everyone, so sample away, you’ll probably end up with a bottle or two to take home with you to help remember your Nevada City.

Nevada City is constantly hosting events, workshops, theatre productions and more, so whether your getaway is an organized event, or a self-created itinerary, there’s always something special to do.
