Nevada City Soapbox Derby 2013

Saturday, June 22, 2013
Starts at 12 p.m.
Mission
Our mission is to provide a fun event for the entire community that is family friendly and enjoyable for all ages. Our primary goal is to have fun! Our secondary goal is to raise money to benefit improvements at Pioneer Park. The objective will be for these improvements to be immediately attainable (within 12 months), so that the community and participants can see and enjoy the benefits of their participation in this year’s event…prior to next year’s event.
What is the Park Project?
Pioneer Park is a beautiful park. Children and adults alike enjoy the recreation opportunities it offers. Our goal is to raise money to help fund additional amenities within the park. Current ideas include Bocce Ball courts, a sand volleyball court, additional seating areas around the pool, and a multi-use (bicycling/jogging/walking) pathway within the park boundaries. Additional ideas are welcome!
Why a soapbox derby?
Our community is filled with hills (view course map), and amazingly talented individuals. A soapbox derby is a fun event that is GREEN! It is a GRAVITY POWERED event, fueled only by the creativity and imagination of the participants!
