Nevada City Chamber of Commerce
founded 1902
Formed in 1902, the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce is among the very oldest in the State of California. For more than a century, the chamber has promoted Nevada City commerce and the Nevada City lifestyle.
This 1915 photo is the oldest in the chamber's files. The chamber office was then located on Pine Street, today the location of Friar Tuck's Restaurant. Here is the information that accompanies the historic photo:
"The Nevada City Chamber of Commerce in 1915 was an enthusiastic group of NC merchants who possessed the know-how, and who for the protection of NC, worked constantly to save the town against great obstacles, but love of community was their first goal - individual enrichment second."
