Celebrate the 4th in Nevada County!
Join the Grass Valley Downtown Association and The Grass Valley and Nevada City Chambers of Commerce in celebrating the 4th of July! The celebration will kick off at the top of Broad Street in Nevada City with the 4th of July Parade at 2:00 PM with a fantastic mix of floats, dancers and even The Ophir Prison Marching Band.
We are proud to introduce Madelyn Helling as this year’s Grand Marshall! Namesake for the Nevada County Library, Madelyn has been an integral part of our community, wearing many hats for many years. She was the County Librarian for 17 years, sat in several board seats including the Nevada County Arts Council, League of Women Voters, and the American Association of University Women. She has received many Citizen of the Year Awards from the Nevada County Historical Society, and the Nevada County Board of Realtors. She volunteered for the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce for 20 years, earning the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce Kilroy Award. She also won the University Women’s Community Service Award- and the list goes on. Let’s just say, she is well deserving of this honor!
Touchdown Productions will be broadcasting “Live” the parade locally and internationally on NCTV Channel 11 and NCTV So. County Channel 16 as well as nevadacountytv.org.
After the parade, head on out the fairgrounds and immerse yourself in tradition with a spectacular fireworks display, Treat Street goodies, entertainment for the kids and all your friends and neighbors. Entertainment for everyone at the Pine Tree Stage includes The Tommyknocker Cloggers, The Dyin’ Breed, Petting Zoo Street Drummers and Jamal Walker and Loose Change.
So join us, Wednesday, July 4th for the parade at 2 PM in Nevada City and then at the Nevada County Fairgrounds from 3 to 10 pm for the best 4th of July Celebration yet! Tickets are $8 for adults, kids 12 and under and military personnel are free! They can be found at either the Nevada City or Grass Valley Chamber, or the Grass Valley Downtown Association.
