Join the Fun and Dress for Victorian Christmas!

The Nevada City Chamber of Commerce is encouraging Victorian attire for merchants, vendors and visitors. Dressing for the occasion adds a special touch to the atmosphere the Chamber is trying to create. Suggestions are as follows for low cost creative Victorian costuming.

• Vest over a high necked shirt
• Knee socks over jeans or pants to look like knickers
• Feathers attached to a broad-brimmed hat and long, elbow-length gloves
• Shirt sleeves pushed up with elastic at elbows
• Long scarf over blouse, sweater, jacket, etc.
• Shawl over blouse or shirt
• Broad colorful suspenders over plain, plaid or paisley shirt
• Bow tie, string tie
• Top hat, bowler, fake handlebar mustache!!!
• Ruffled apron over ankle length dress, skirt
• Ruffled cap
• Long coat with scarf and hat

Use your imagination!! You can probably dress in a Victorian look by just being creative with the clothes in your closet or visit some of Nevada City’s clothing & hat stores!

Try it – It’s lots of fun and adds to the ambience of the celebration!
