Advertising is a critical component to business success, but it can also be the priciest. The Nevada City Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the City of Nevada City, has invested in the development of a Smart Phone App for Nevada City to help offset those advertising expenses.

Whether you are an iPhone user or not, many of our visitors are! It is estimated that there will be over 1.8 billion smart phones in use by 2013. That’s more than all the computers in the world. What’s more, those users are young, highly educated, and affluent, with 40% earning in excess of $100,000 per year. Smart Phone Apps are a great advertising tool because iPhone users constantly look to their phones for instant, up-to-date information.

Introducing The Nevada City Smart Phone App
We’d like to have every business in Nevada City represented in this app. Lucky for us, two Nevada City residents developed the City App software and have already begun to build the Nevada City App. While it is not ‘live’ yet, most of the downtown merchants are already listed in the app now. We have visited many of you to discuss the benefits and features, but just in case we missed you, here’s the scoop:

• Business Name, Address
• Phone Number with automatic phone dialing
• Website Link
• Story (2 to 3 paragraphs), plus hours of operation
• Photo – Measuring at least 640 pixels wide (JPG format)
• Map with turn-by-turn directions
• Plus you can change your content at any time!
